It All Started...

Before Earthadelic was Earthadelic, it was a small lawn care company that now co-owner, Dale Madden, started as a kid. Dale always had an interest in plants and outdoors, which he turned into a small lawn care business. After he graduated from the University of Tennessee, he decided to continue his business out of his passion for being outdoors and his eagerness to engage with customers.

In 2006, Steve Polte joined the company and became Dale’s business partner. Steve, who obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell and an MBA from the University of Tennessee, brought 30 years of experience and knowledge to the table. With Dale’s passion for landscape construction and Steve’s business knowledge, they began the journey that has led them to a successful partnership and company.

Company History

Serving the Knoxville area for over two decades.

2001

  • Dale Madden launched Knox Lawns with only 2 employee2 by offering mowing services to homeowners in his neighborhood

2006

  • Grew Knox Lawns by offering landscape services and adding the first commercial truck; the team consisted of 8 employees

2008

  • Diversified services offered by adding paver patio, retaining walls, stone work, and full irrigation system installations
  • Increased the team to 10 employees

2009

  • Fun Fact: Steve knew the name “Knox Lawns” didn’t describe the company and its personality. He spent days trying to come up with something new. Finally, it came to him while in the shower (like most genius ideas do!). Earthadelic was born.
