Smoky Mountains

CITY:Robbinsville, NC

Santeetlah Lake, a picturesque setting in the mountains of North Carolina, is home to a stunning Earthadelic outdoor living transformation completed in 2022. An elevated covered porch addition was built onto the back of this sloped lot in an effort to capture more ground-level living space.

The end result is over 750 s.f. of added living area that expands the main floor's entertainment opportunities to the great outdoors. A fireplace, outdoor kitchen, seating, and dining area includes both covered and open-air space. Down the stairs is a secret outdoor shower, and beyond that are new stone terraces at the shoreline.

Covered decks are your gateway to the outdoors. This one in particular comes with all the bells and whistles: a fireplace, options for grilling and smoking, a lounge area, and outdoor shower, and more. Solid beams of Douglas Fir and stone columns give this covered deck the strength it needs to last, and metal roofing was perfectly matched to the existing home. The IPE walnut wood deck material is also designed to last for decades.

Outdoor cooking is one of life's great pleasures, and this outdoor kitchen takes the cooking experience to the next level. A gaucho-style, Argentinian grill served as the focal point, with a unique pulley system that raises and lowers the cook grate over wood charcoals. A Big Green Egg™ offers one the ability to smoke meats and veggies "low and slow", and a built-in gas grill is there for any other needs. A prep sink and refrigeration round out the kitchen's amenities.

Planning &

This project required a comprehensive approach to the design and construction process due to the extreme slope of the land and proximity to water. Earthadelic's designers worked hand-in-hand with the homeowners as well as Earthadelic's construction crews to be sure that the designs not only met the homeowner's expectations, but also were achievable based on budget, material availability, and local building codes.

Earthadelic's stone masons achieved the classic Tennessee dry stack look by carefully fitting stones so that the cement used becomes invisible. The unique patterns that develop when mixing large with smaller stones is what makes this masonry technique so unique. While the fireplace is wood burning, a gas starter offers the convenience of easy lighting. The end result... a roaring fire each and every time.

Outdoor showers are a popular addition to outdoor living spaces—and especially at lake houses—where they are not only luxurious, but also practical. After a day on the water, everyone can appreciate a quick outdoor rinse with warm, running water. Rover can attest—it sure beats getting sprayed off with a garden hose!

Fire Pit

Earthadelic has constructed hundreds of boulder fire pits over the years, but there is nothing quite like seeing the flicker of fire reflected on the water. This lakeside fire pit includes built-in stone wall seating around the perimeter, as well as stone patio space for Adirondack chairs.

Natural stone flagging is an affordable way to provide hardscaped patio surfaces to extend the outdoor living space on a property. On this particular project, different terraced patio areas are connected by stone pathways that include outdoor lighting for evening gatherings.

Irrigation &

Irrigation is a worthy investment because it makes maintenance a breeze, especially when you can now control the water schedules remotely—even from another country! Earthadelic's irrigation team will carefully design your irrigation, like they did on this project, to be as inconspicuous as possible while at the same time delivering the right amount of water to the vegetation it serves. Equally important is landscape lighting, which not only looks beautiful, but also enhances the safety of your backyard oasis.

Stone columns are a great alternative to wood or metal supports because they look great and can last forever when properly cared for. They also add architectural significance to your property. Homeowners have a wide selection of masonry options to consider, including type of stone, style of cut, how it is stacked, and grout techniques. Our designers can help you decide which is best for you.

Bar Stools

Earthadelic thrives on quality features that will make your project truly unique. These custom bar stools combine quality metalwork with beautiful woodwork for an outdoor solution that is one-of-a-kind. Not only are they eye-catching and functional, but they are also comfortable to sit on!

While Bluetooth speakers may be all the rage due to their portability, you simply cannot achieve hi-fidelity sound without a high-quality, built-in surround sound system. Earthadelic can help you choose the right size of system to meet your audiophile objectives. Most importantly, you'll want to be sure you have the amperage to meet your sound level needs outdoors. A deck full of partygoers requires a lot of power to not be drowned out by your boisterous crowd.

Copper & Iron

It's the little details that make such a difference in the finished product. Sticking with the theme from the cabin's interior spaces, this covered deck includes copper and iron accents that will hold up to the elements. Earthadelic can not only help source the hardware you need for your project, but often will create custom pieces to meet your needs.
